This weekend simplistic contemporary Jewellery short course is aimed at complete beginners and will be taught in Clare's new jewellery workshop : G15 at Ocean studios, Royal William yard. Plymouth. Over the course of two and a half weekends you will be given demonstrations into the basics of jewellery making including how to silver solder. Clare will guide you through 5 full day sessions of technique building and during the final Saturday session you will be able to complete your own designs using sterling silver based on the techniques demonstrated to you.

This is the perfect course for any one wishing to know the basics of jewellery making and will set you up to either produce your own items to wear or to give as gifts it will also give you the basis to progress onto further courses and master classes in the future.

All materials during the first two weekends are included, you will be assisted on how and where you are able to purchase your silver from for your final weekend session during the beginning of the course.

You will be given a full health and safety induction on your session. Please make sure you wear closed toe footwear. Any one wearing the incorrect footwear will not be allowed into the workshop.

£10.00 reserves your place you will then be invoiced the remaining balance to be paid in full upon receipt to secure your place on the course.

Weekend One : Saturday 7th Sunday 8th October 

Health and safety induction 
-Brief overview about what is going to be demonstrated over the course and information regarding tools and materials that will be used. 
-Induction into soldering torches, learn how to anneal copper and brass and clean base metals.

-Recap on the use of soldering torches, annealing and pickle bath. 
-Mark making and surface pattern techniques.

-Cutting techniques 
-Learn how to use a piecing saw, snips and bench cutter to cut metal and acrylic 
-Induction into bench top Drill 
-Learn how to use silver solder 

Weekend Two : Saturday 11th November - Sunday 12th November

Chain making 
-Solder and construct a contemporary chain using base metals 
-Measure and make a simplistic ring. 
-Make a pair of silver stud earrings

-Recap techniques so far.

Weekend Three Saturday 2nd December Only

Create your own items using techniques demonstrated to you in previous weeks.
